Automatic Discriminating Printout System for Quantometric Analyses

Abstract

A custom-designed printout system has been installed on a 1.5-m Industrial Research Quantometer to print automatically three-digit values in parts per million of up to 24 elements which have been determined in a matrix of uranous–uranic oxide (U3O8). The individual element values from the duplicate sample analyses are printed on adjacent lines at the rate of 24 values per 20 sec. The use of this electronic discriminating printout system reduces the number of data that must be handled manually. It also minimizes the possibility of errors occurring in reading and recording the data and in the calculating and discriminating procedures normally performed by technicians.
