Infrared Spectroscopy of Biological Materials

Abstract

The application of infrared spectroscopy to various problems in the biological field is illustrated by considering its use in the structural determination of proteins and a clinical situation. Sampling problems with biological materials are discussed With the advent of the far-infrared spectrophotometer the study of biological materials in the far-infrared region is now possible. Typical results with various material such as tissue and macromolecular components of the tissues are shown. The far-infrared spectra of amino acids are discussed
