Abstract
The bibliography is a continuation of an earlier work which covered the period 1848 to 1956 and contained 925 references. The present work covers the period 1956 to March 1959 with 766 references distributed, according to the index, as follows: Books on Analytical Flame Spectroscopy (2); Basic and Theoretical Papers (96); Bibilographies on Analytical Flame Spectroscopy (3); Chapters and Information on Analytical Flame Spectroscopy in Scientific Books (23); Reviews (24); Theses (11); Instrumentation (62); Procedures (319). The remaining references are distributed under the headings: <i>Materials Analyzed</i> — air and CO2 (3); alcoholic beverages (4); biological materials (153); cement, refractories and glass (25); chemicals (26); dairy products (4); food (4); fuels, oils and coal (7), metals, alloys and catalysts (20); plants (115), rubber, plastics and paper (2); soil, fertilizers, minerals and rocks (135); water (24); and <i>Elements Determined:</i> Ag (3); Al (7); B (7); Ba (18), Br (1), C12 and C13 (1); Ca (170); Cd (1), Cl (2), Co (4), Cr (7), Cs (19); Cu (10); Fe (6), Ga (1), I (1), In (1), K (333); Li (32), Mg (64), Mn (13), N. (1); Na (244), Ni (5), Pb (1), Rare Earths (5); Rb (8); SO4 (5), Sn (1); Sr (25); V (1), Zn (1). (Since one reference may be indexed under more than one heading, the total number of papers cannot be obtained by adding these figures.) In addition to references pertaining to the field of analytical flame spectroscopy, a limited number of papers on unusual flames, mass spectrometry applied to flames, flame temperature measurements and free radicals in flames are also included. The papers are arranged chronologically and in alphabetic order by author and, wherever possible, the <i>Chemical Abstracts</i> or <i>Biological Abstracts</i> reference is added.
