Abstract
In the course of studies in progress on the properties of the hydrogen halides in anhydrous polar organic solvents, crystalline substrates have been isolated which frequently are unstable on exposure to the atmosphere, decomposing rapidly with the evolution of the hydrogen halide and reformation of the solvent. The conventional pressed window techniques are thus not applicable for the study of such solids. To meet the need for a controlled atmosphere cell suitable for study of readily volatile solids, the infrared assembly described in this note was designed.
