Abstract

The molecular weights of a large variety of amines, such as primary, secondary, tertiary, alkyl, aryl, and heterocyclic amines, have been determined by a study of the absorption spectra of their picrate and styphnate derivatives. The effect of concentration upon the accuracy of the method is discussed. The rapidity and simplicity of this technique appears to be quite promising.
