Abstract

Commercial production of heat and corrosion resistant steels containing specified quantities of nitrogen necessitate the development of rapid analytical control procedures. In particular, Cr-Mn-Mo steels having nitrogen concentrations of approximately 0.5 percent are proving to be valuable replacements for conventional alloys of high nickel content (1). The critical supply and cost of nickel has focussed attention upon less strategic materials.
