Abstract

We have recently published the details of a variable-pressure inductively coupled (27 MHz) plasma torch which operates with very low total gas consumption, with low rf power, and with a wide variety of plasma support gases, including helium. Because of these particular features, this torch is also able to be used as a GC detector and as a small-volume gas sampling sensor when used with commercial ICP instrumentation. It is this latter application which is described briefly in this note.
