Abstract
Two-dimensional Fourier-transform-based correlation analysis methods are discussed with application to excitation-emission matrices (EEMs). Quantitative analysis of single and multicomponent EEMs in the presence of noise is explored with the use of synthetic and real data. The algorithms developed are then used with a video fluorometer (VF) to study the kinetics of the photodecomposition of acridine. The precision of the kinetic data generated by correlation analysis of EEMs is found to be greater than the precision of data obtained simultaneously by HPLC monitoring of the photodecomposition process.
