Abstract

The phenomenon of magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) is briefly reviewed. An apparatus for MCD measurements, based on a modified spectropolarimeter and using a superconducting magnet, is described. Use of the apparatus for determining MCD spectra of some inorganic, organic, and biochemical materials is illustrated. Areas of application of MCD as a physical tool in research and analysis are also outlined.
