This feature issue of Applied Optics will contain a representative selection of topics that will be presented at the 13th School on Acousto-Optics and Applications, to be held in Moscow, Russia, 19-23 June 2017. The Spring School has served as a forum for disseminating the science and technology of acousto-optics and its most current applications. Along with traditional applications of acousto-optics, such as spectroscopy and laser beam controlling, contributions in new areas such as diffraction of light by ultrasound in irregular media, phenomena of quantum optics, and nonstationary interactions of ultrashort optical and ultrasonic pulses, etc. will be considered.
While selections from the Spring School conference will be included, papers related to the following topics are also welcome:
All papers need to present original, previously unpublished work and will be subject to the normal standards and peer-review processes of the journal. The standard Applied Optics publication charges will apply to all published articles. For conference papers to be eligible for publication, the paper needs to add substantial and/or significant new information to the original conference summary. Manuscripts must be prepared according to the usual standards for submission to Applied Optics and must be uploaded through OSA's electronic submission system, specifying from the drop-down menu that the manuscript is for the Feature Issue on Acousto-Optics.
