Fig. 1 gives a closeup view of a large mirror showing cement line metal spine al broken glass.

Fig. 2 is a view looking down on the broken roof mirror. Note the similarity of fracture patterns. The glass is Pyrex, the metal spine stainless. The cement must be very hard to hold the roof angle. Differences of expansion set up stress sufficient to break the glass.

Fig. 3 illustrates a smaller roof mirror showing very interesting pull out of glass. The metal’s contraction actually fractured out a symmetrical hole, leaving the two wings still cemented. To the left can be seen fracture line in a mirror still together.
