Experimental investigation of eigenmodes of empty optical resonators with apertures

Abstract

The spectra of an eigenmodal set of optical resonators with apertures are measured experimentally. Frequency shifts predicted by theory are confirmed for plane-parallel cavities. It is also shown that the local shape of the wave front at the aperture is significant for manifestation of these phenomena.
