Abstract

Funding for independent biomedical research is little more than noise in the federal budget. As a result, the infrastructure of people who generate new information is being decimated. The nation’s economic stability and long-term economic growth supported by this infrastructure are threatened. Researchers need to take positive action to reverse this trend by actively participating in the decision process at all levels.
