Abstract

The total absorptance of the 4.7-μ band of CO has been calculated using the data for the strengths, widths, and shapes of the lines obtained by Benedict et al. The calculated absorptances are compared with the experimental measurements of Burch et al. and it is shown that the two sets of results can be brought into substantial agreement if the line-widths are increased by approximately 25%.
