Abstract

Sossi’s Q function is the critical kernel in the Fourier transform technique for multilayer thin film design. Using an operator formalism, a new Q function is analytically derived; we show that it is identical to an expression recently used by Bouard. The new Q function should find use in the design of high rejection transmission filters.
