Abstract
Generation of infrared radiation at λ = 2.804 μm by stimulated Raman scattering of Nd:YAG laser radiation (λ = 1.06 μm) in methane is investigated. Up to 12 mJ/pulse are obtained with 320-mJ input energy; the generated radiation shows a beam divergence of ≤1 mrad. The values obtained meet the requirements established in the literature, e.g., for eye surgery.
