Neodymium: glass laser system with a large tuning range

Abstract

Application of a diffraction grating in the resonator of Nd: glass lasers allows the tuning range to be increased by a factor of ~2 compared with intracavity etalons or birefringent filters. Measurements of tuning ranges are presented for various laser glasses and modes of operation.
