Abstract

The refractive index n(λ,T) of the widely used index-matching liquid 1.8 cineole has been measured by the minimum deviation method, and we have verified the data by measuring the propagation through a piece of bare silica fiber immersed in this liquid. An empirical five-term formula is proposed, which gives n(λ,T) within an accuracy of 10−4 between 15°C and 35°C and between 0.6 and 1.7 μm.
