Abstract

A new design for a microobjective having magnification and numerical aperture of 40× and 0.65, respectively, has been developed. The system adopted for the new design consists of five elements but has a different configuration from the traditional Amici construction. The new design is compared with Amici type designs, and it has been found that the proposed new configuration is capable of giving better performance than the traditional Amici configuration.
