Measurement of peak temperature along an optical fiber

Abstract

A multimode silica-clad optical fiber with a liquid silicone core was used as a distributed-line peak-temperature sensor over a temperature range from ambient to 190°C. The maximum error was 2°C and was essentially independent of the length or position of the hot zone.
