Abstract

Transmission characteristics including the combined effect of waveguide and material dispersion are predicted numerically for the LP modes in fibers with arbitrary refractive-index profiles. The method exploits normalization to reduce the amount of computation needed to study the transmission characteristics of many fibers with the same refractive-index profile shape.
