Abstract

Second-harmonic generation induced by a dc electric-field offers a convenient flexible example of a nonlinear interaction involving intersecting focused beams. An analysis of propagation aspects such as optimal focusing is presented and shown to be in good agreement with experiment. The analysis can be extended to other nonlinear interactions with similar geometry.
