Dual three-rod connector for single fiber optics

Abstract

A multichannel connector for single fiber optics has been designed, fabricated, and tested. The alignment mechanism utilizes a dual three-rod geometry. The connector exhibits an average insertion loss of 1.5 dB and is a potentially low cost device.
