Abstract

A quantitative test for the evaluation of surface figures of concave aspheric surfaces using a Babinet compensator is reported. A theoretical estimate of the sensitivity is 0.002λ for a minimum detectable phase change of 2 π × 10−3 rad over a segment length of 1.0 cm.
