Picture coding possibility without point by point sampling

Abstract

It is emphasized that, for many applications in the field of automatic image analysis, it is not useful to sample them in a point by point ordered array. In fact a run-coding may be executed during the scanning process itself of the images. Examples are reported to show the efficacy of the method.
