Abstract

The SNR's predicted for three types of Hadamard transform spectrometer, a Michelson Fourier spectrometer, SISAM, PEPSIOS, and grating monochromators and a grating spectrograph all observing an extensive continuum source are estimated and compared in both photon and receiver noise limited conditions. This complements a previous paper [ J. Meaburn, Appl. Opt. 12, 279 ( 1973)] dealing with spectrometers for extended line emission sources in a similar way.
