In the center is the polished stainless steel mandrel. At the bottom is the mandrel with its nickel plate. At the top is the cylinder of nickel removed from the mandrel.
The nickel cone is still mounted on its arbor while being ground to a cylinder of two different diameters.
Many small external grooves are required. The part is shown with dividing head and carboloy end mill.
The completed cone still has the cylindrical outside resting on V-blocks ready for grinding half away.
The bottom half is still resting on the V-blocks. The pencil is pointing to the wax that filled the inside to protect it during the grinding process.
