Abstract

The temporal evolution of the processes of self-focusing and of the formation of a screening soliton in the optically active photorefractive crystal Bi12TiO20 (BTO) with two types of section has been experimentally investigated as a function of the voltage applied to the crystal and the presence of additional background illumination. It is shown that a stable soliton can be obtained in a BTO crystal of section [111¯][112][1¯10]. © 2004 Optical Society of America
