Abstract

When the displacements of the components in a two-component variable-magnification optical system are linearly related, there is no defocusing of the image for three values of the distance between the components if the curve of the dependence of the distance on the transverse magnification of the image has an inflection point. Relationships are obtained that make it possible to determine this point. © 2003 Optical Society of America
