Abstract
The transient calorimetric technique is used to measure the total hemispherical emissivity of the clean (100) surface of single crystal tungsten over the temperature range 340 to 1260 °K. The emissivity is found to be only slightly sensitive to adsorption of monolayer quantities of oxygen on the surface. Results are fit to a free-electron Drude model with a correction term for interband absorption.
