Intensity Calibration of a Spectroscopic Detecting System in the 1100–1820- Å Region

Abstract

Relative intensity measurements in (υ′ = const, υ″) band progressions of the (B1Σu+X1Σg+) Lyman systems of H2 and HD were used to determine the relative sensitivity of a monochromator–detector combination in the wavelength region from 1100 to 1650 Å. Additional measurements in three band progressions of the Lyman–Birge–Hopfield system of nitrogen yielded results that are in good agreement with the hydrogen data. The calibration range could then be extended to 1820 Å.
