Abstract

Measurements and calculations are given of boresight error and radiation patterns of a microwave antenna in an axially symmetric dielectric shell of ogival contour. An approximation based on induction and equivalence theorems is used for calculation of radiation patterns. Rays are traced approximately by replacing multiple reflections in the curved shell by those in a plane dielectric sheet. Depolarization effects are approximated. Multiple scattering by the antenna and shell is ignored, as are scattering by the vertex and surface waves along the shell wall.
