Effect of Length on the Visibility of a Fine Line

Abstract

The threshold visibility of a series of test objects ranging from a fine line to a square was determined at two orientations, vertical and oblique. It was found that as the test objects became longer and narrower the area of the threshold objects increased. The limiting width for a fine line was 0.5 sec and for a square about 12 sec. These values are comparable to those previously reported.
