Reflection and Transmission Formulas for a Film on a Backing Plate

Abstract

Explicit formulas for reflection and transmission for a film on a backing plate are derived for any angle of incidence. Film and plate material are assumed to be absorbing, the film being plane-parallel, the plate not plane-parallel. Only radiation with the electric vector vibrating perpendicular to the plane of incidence is considered.
