Abstract

As a result of research reported by Swain et al. and Willits et al. the ultraviolet spectrophotometric method was shown to be a rapid and accurate procedure for the determination of nicotine in tobacco and tobacco products. Later Keith and Newsome and Laurence and Harrel added some modifications to the original method and applied their techniques to the analysis of tobacco smoke.
