Abstract

Report No. 1 dated March 10, 1948, was prepared by the Committee on Nomenclature of the Society for Applied Spectroscopy. At the time of the Eighth Pittsburgh Conference on Applied Spectroscopy in the fall of 1947, the Advisory Subcommittee on Committee E-2 on Spectrographic Analysis of the American Society for Testing Materials approved the formation of a nomenclature group within the Editorial Subcommittee (III). The activities of these two groups have now been merged and Report No. 2 represents the first publicaion of this Joint Committee on Nomenlature.
