Abstract
In a previous paper the authors demonstrated the applicability of the infrared pellet technique to the quantitative determination of alkaline earth carbonates (barium, strontium, and calcium carbonates). Mention was made of the difficulty in applying the technique to sodium and potassium carbonates because of their hygroscopicity. Buijs and Schutte have discussed the hygroscopicity problems encountered in the preparation of the spectra of anhydrous sodium and potassium carbonates.
