This feature issue highlights the topics of the 2007 North American Symposium on Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS), which includes LIBS application to security and forensics, biomedical and environmental, liquid analysis, and fundamentals of LIBS, instrumentation and commercialization, fusion with LIBS, and new frontiers.
