A Diffuse Light Source for Calibrating Meteorological Satellite Television Cameras

Abstract

A simplified method is presented for calibrating weather satellite television camera systems with a source simulating diffusely reflected sunlight. The requirements of spectral brightness, uniformity, and stability were met through a suitable choice of components and their arrangement. This type of light source has already been used to calibrate several of the weather satellite television camera systems.
