Abstract
A survey is made of physical processes which might degrade a uniphasal wavefront. Tolerances are examined for two distinct types of presentation: long-range communications and short focus, high photon concentration. The limits are found within which the perturbations can be neglected for these two applications. Conditions are formulated that must be fulfilled by the coherent light generator to make it practically useful. These include the duration of time coherence and the geometry of the uniphasal wavefronts.
