The Elimination of Scattered Light in Solar Spectrographs

Abstract

The double pass system in the Littrow spectrograph at the Sacramento Peak Observatory is described. This system, as well as increasing the resolving power of the spectrograph, eliminates all effects of Rowland ghosts, extended instrumental profile wings, and diffuse scattered light.
