Fabrication of planar waveguides in oxyfluoride glass-ceramics by simple heat-treatment

Abstract

Planar waveguides were fabricated by heat-treatment of oxyfluoride glasses. The formation of transparent nanocrystallized layers of 1 to 5 micrometers thickness with an increased refractive index was evidenced during the ceramization treatments applied on the glass.
