Pushing the limits in the fabrication and properties of soft glass and silica optical fibers

Abstract

This paper reviews progress in the fabrication of optical fibers made from novel glasses and/or exhibiting new structures. These fibers push the boundaries in materials and optical properties for laser, nonlinearity and sensing applications.
