Bent Optical Fiber Bragg Grating Embedded in PDMS for Vertical Compression Load Sensor

Abstract

In this letter, a bent FBG embedded in Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), is proposed to measure vertical compression load. Experiments show that the sensitivity is as high as 16.9 pm/N in the range of 0-350N.
