Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output transmission over few-mode fibers

Abstract

We present experimental demonstration of spatially multiplexed long-distance transmission over few-mode fibers and coupled-core multicore fibers. The results are based on novel photonic-lantern based mode-multiplexers and the fiber properties relevant for optical transmission are discussed in detail.
