Abstract

Several channel-degrading effects are present in dynamic reconfigurable WDM systems and networks. These effects must be addressed by tunable methods so that signals do not fade with time. The relevant issues to be addressed include: dispersion compensation, power equalization, PMD compensation, and EDFA gain flattening and transient control.
