Abstract

Semiconductor integrated optical devices for photonic networks are summarized. One of them, an electroabsorption modulator integrated with a distributed feedback laser is effective source of light for wavelength-division multiplexing systems operating in the C-band and L-band. Another is an InP-based arrayed-waveguide grating useful in making a wavelength filter, a wavelength-demultiplexed receiver, and a wavelength selector.
