Abstract

980 nm pump laser diode modules with a failure rate of less than 30FIT for 27 years lifetime have been successfully developed. These are the first undersea- qualified 980nm pump sources and to be used in upcoming transoceanic submarine systems such as Pacific Crossing-1(PC-1), Japan-U.S. Cable System and TAT-14.
