Theoretical influence of Stiles-Crawford effect on vision with decentered pupils

Abstract

The Stiles-Crawford effect compensates to a small extent for aberrations induced by pupil decentration. From this theoretical investigation, it appears to reduce subjectively measured transverse aberrations for 5mm diameter pupils by approximately one-third.
