Extremely Non-Adiabatic Switching of Deep-Strong Light-Matter Coupling

Abstract

We observe a non-adiabatic switch-off of deep-strong light-matter coupling characterized by pronounced subcycle polarization oscillations. A quantum model verifies that light-matter decoupling occurs more than an order of magnitude faster than the optical cycle duration.
